Аннотация	Для академических исследований 1950–1980-х гг., посвященных поляризованному развитию, была характерна методологическая эклектика, обусловленная тем, что проблема так и не сформировавшегося в рамках оригинальных работ французских исследователей (в первую очередь Ф. Перру и Ж.-Р. Будвиля) набора общепринятых положений («твердого ядра» теории) начала усугубляться из-за расширения числа вовлеченных исследователей. Одним из наиболее заметных новшеств, возникшим благодаря некорректным интерпретациям публикаций французских первопроходцев, стало введение в оборот термина «центр роста», сильно потеснившего исходную «полюсную» терминологию из англоязычной литературы. Помимо неоправданного расширения перечня терминов в массиве публикаций начали появляться работы, базирующиеся на методологических установках, идущих в разрез с позициями того же Ф. Перру. По сути, рассматриваемое научное направление явно попало в «ловушку фрагментации». Также не удалось сформировать набор более или менее законченных вспомогательных теорий, которые могли бы составить «защитный пояс» теории поляризованного развития. В результате первоначальный методологический базис, который можно охарактеризовать как гетеродоксальный, начал размываться, в том числе и за счет исследований, использующих инструментарий, типичный для экономической ортодоксии. Итогом стал постепенный спад интереса академических исследователей к исходному концепту, а в число «центров внимания» попали конкурирующие гетеродоксальные теории
